Communication Director: Saja Al Weshahi

I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the Professional Development Director for the ASID Chapter Board. As a Palestinian-American who has lived overseas for most of my life, I bring a unique, global perspective to the design industry. My diverse background has given me a deep appreciation for cultural narratives in design and a strong understanding of how different experiences shape professional growth. I understand mentorship, continuous learning, and fostering connections that transcend borders.

Through this position, I hope to create professional development initiatives that are not only skill focused but also inclusive and adaptable to the evolving needs of designers from all backgrounds. My experience in design education through Northern Virginia Community College has reinforced my commitment to supporting designers at every stage of their careers. Whether through workshops, networking events, or digital resources, I aim to provide meaningful opportunities that empower professionals to excel and evolve.

Additionally, as I transition back into the DC design community, I am eager to contribute fresh perspectives while learning from the region's dynamic network of professionals. This role would allow me to strengthen connections with ASID, advocate for knowledge-sharing, and cultivate an environment where designers feel supported in their growth.
