Give back in style!

The ASID Washington Metro Chapter is thrilled to announce our 2021 Charity of Choice, Design My Room®, an exclusive Wish Upon a Teen* program for teenagers facing extended hospitalization due to life-threatening illness or serious injury.

Thanks to partnerships with hospitals across the country, including Children’s National Medical and Johns Hopkins here in the DMV, Design My Room® works to redecorate teens’ hospital rooms to feel more comforting and relaxing – more like “home.” Things like new bedding, area rugs, posters, and sports and pop culture memorabilia are brought in based on teens’ interests and tastes. These simple hospital room makeovers have a remarkable effect on lifting a teenager’s spirits and increasing their sense of well-being!

Our chapter recognizes a natural alignment of ideologies, as Wish Upon a Teen and its Design My Room® program embodies the power of design to impact lives. To support Wish Upon a Teen’s ongoing efforts, our chapter will be making a $1,000 donation, which will cover 4 hospital room design makeovers.

But let us not just stop there!
The chapter also encourages YOU to get involved!
For just $250, you can sponsor a hospital room makeover, and
Design My Room® can purchase items on your behalf.

Or, if you’d like to flex your design muscles
and personally curate items that reflect participating teens’ tastes and personalities, Executive Director, Nancy Sovran,
could use your expertise as well!
